Torre del Cantal

Highlight • Monument

The Torre del Cantal is located in an elevated position at the end of Paseo de la Marina. Like the Torre de Chilches and the Torre del Jaral, the ancient documentation considers the Torre del Cantal as Nasrid heritage from the 12th to 15th centuries. You also have a nice view over the coast of Rincón de la Victoria.

Virgen del Carmen Promenade

Highlight • Trail

The Paseo Virgen del Carmen in Rincón de la Victoria is a particularly picturesque stretch of the seafront promenade, extending along the rocky coast to the cliffs of El Cantal. The path offers magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea, and at its end, a small chapel is nestled into the rocks.

This section of the Paseo Virgen del Carmen thus impressively combines nature, faith, and art – ideal for a peaceful moment by the sea, especially at sunset when the rocks and the sea are bathed in golden light.

Rincón de la Victoria Beach

Highlight • Beach

Rincón de la Victoria beach, with its clear and shallow waters, stretches for seven kilometers, making it one of the longest beaches on the Costa del Sol. A special highlight of this route are the former railway tunnels that run through the cliffs and offer unique views of the coast. The combination of beach and bike path, combined with magnificent views, makes this tour along the coast particularly attractive.

La Cala del Moral Beach

Highlight • Beach

The name “La Cala del Moral” comes from the Spanish word moral, which means “mulberry tree”, as these trees used to be common in the area. The town has a close connection with fishing, which is reflected in local traditions and dishes. Historically, it was an important part of the defence of the coast, with several towers and other military constructions designed to protect against pirate raids. In addition to beach experiences, La Cala del Moral has many restaurants offering local specialties such as grilled fish (espeto de sardinas) and seafood.

Via Verde along the coast, a great thing! The route also goes through impressive tunnels blasted into the rock. The tunnels are located just before the town of Rincón de la Victoria and were originally built for a train that traveled from Málaga to Vélez. Both a passenger and a freight train ran along the railway line. The train was known as La Cochinita (little pig) because it ran over a herd of pigs on its first journey. If you look at the picture of the train that was painted on the rock face, you will find this name there. The train stopped operating in 1960.

For those who usually only drive over bridges, these tunnel passages are a real experience. Between the tunnels there are wonderful views of the coast and there is a lot to discover. Very well implemented, easy to ride cycle path on a great route, a real highlight and a great experience.
