Hermit's Rest

Highlight • Monument

Hermits Rest is the end point of the red shuttle line. From here you can start a hike back on the Rim Trail or a hike into the Grand Canyon on the Hermit Trail which intersects with the Boucher Trail or finally leads to the Tonto Trail after many miles and loss of elevation.

There are restrooms, drinking fountains and a gift shop that also sells maps of the area at Hermits Rest.

View from the Rim Trail

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Rim Trail leads along the South Rim for about 14 miles and offers some of the best views into the Grand Canyon. The western endpoint is Hermit's Rest, the eastern endpoint is the South Kaibab Trailhead. The trail is mainly paved, but especially in the west there is still a narrow hiking trail along the edge of the canyon.

View of the Colorado River rapids

Highlight • Viewpoint

One of the places where the Colorado has strong rapids. From above it doesn't look particularly spectacular. But once you're inside the washing machine, you'll be glad if you get out unharmed
