Windsor Railway Bridge

Highlight • Monument

Designed by famed British civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 1840s, Windsor Railway Bridge is a wrought iron 'bow and string' bridge crossing the River Thames between Romney Lock and Boveney Lock. It carries the branch train line between Slough and Windsor.

Jubilee River Bridge

Highlight • Cycleway

Nice little bridge crossing over the Juiblee River just outside Slough. You can cross the river to reach the town where there is a handful of amenities.

Jubilee River Weir

Highlight • River

The Jubilee River is really a flood relief scheme that has several miles of grit cycleways along it. It’s tranquil and a wildlife haven, a really beautiful escape from the busy roads nearby. Great for walking & picnics too, there are a few bridges across it too, so it’s easy to get to it. The river runs from Cookham to Eton, but the middle stretch is the only length with walking & cycle paths. Best on a hybrid bike as the cycleways are quite flinty.

View of the Jubilee River

Highlight • River

The track on the south side of the Jubilee River from Slough towards Eton is very poor with overhanging tree branches & rutted path etc. The track on the north side, accessed when you cross at the traffic lights at Slough, is much better and wider. Access to Eton is via the wooden bridge at the end of the track.

Jubilee River Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The Jubilee river is a beautiful place to cycle. Miles of very natural scenery and surrounded by greenery. The cycle path is flat and good, but in winter can get stony and a bit muddier. In summer it is OK to cycle even on a road bike, but in all conditions a hybrid is probably most suitable.

This is where the riverside cycleway ends. Although the Jubilee river continues from here to Cookham, there are no paths or cycleways along it from here.
