The parish was probably founded around 1300 by local owners for their extensive estates. It dates back to the early times of Christianity in Poland. The church was built by Piotr Kostka, later the chamberlain of Malbork and Chełmno. On August 7, 1633, the church was consecrated by the bishop of Włocławek, Łubieński, from that moment on the church was dedicated to the Holy Trinity, previously to St. Nicholas.
