Civitella del Lago is of Roman origin, as attested by Pliny the Younger. Perched like many other villages in the area, in a dominant position, in the Middle Ages it was a defensive stronghold of Todi. Ruled from the XII century. from the Fredi family, in the 16th century it passed under the Atti family who governed it in the following period. In 1810 it took the name of Civitella dei Pazzi, apparently due to a presence of the famous Florentine family, antagonist of the Medici. After the construction of the Corbara dam and the homonymous lake, it took the current name of Civitella del Lago. The panorama that can be enjoyed extends up to Mount Argentario. Worth seeing is the Ovo Pinto Museum which, based on the Easter peasant tradition, collects eggs painted by artists from all over the world.
