Wayside Cross of Peñíscola

This term cross was restored in 2009 from various pieces recovered from the remains of the original cross, from the 13th century. Fragments of the cross and part of the lower finial of the vertical arm were preserved, approximately half of the original work.

The reconstruction of these Gothic remains has given way to a polychrome cross that shows Jesus Christ on one side and the Virgin of La Ermitana, patron saint of Peñíscola, on the other. The location of the terminus cross has also changed, due to the layout of the road, remaining only a few meters from its original position.
