Access bridge to Tudela

Highlight • Bridge

The Ebro Bridge in Tudela is an impressive example of medieval architecture. Built of stone, it spans 360 meters and consists of 16 piers and 17 uneven arches. This bridge is fundamental to the history of Tudela, as it has been a strategic crossing over the Ebro River since its construction in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Although tradition attributes its construction to King Sancho VII the Strong, some historians suggest it may be a reconstruction of an earlier Muslim bridge. Over the years, it has undergone numerous renovations to withstand floods and the ravages of time.

You can explore the Bardenas on foot, by bike, by Segway, on horseback, or by 4x4 or your own car. There are many well-signposted routes. Of course, the inner part is closed to cars and the experience is much more beautiful by bike.

Many people don't get out of their cars and can't see the inner part of the park, which is a no-car area. So grab your bike or go for a walk and enjoy what only a few can see.

A magical place that hides a history of romanticism that dates back to the 13th century. Inside the Bardenas Reales park, this tower that has been eroded by the scourge of the weather today is a symbol of the region. Built by Sancho el Fuerte in the 13th century, it was originally conceived to protect the border between Navarre and Aragon. Later it was the prison of Princess Blanca of Navarra who was imprisoned by her father Juan II of Aragon for refusing the agreed marriage. The story goes that every night a shepherd came to give the princess food and drink and that when she was released, as a thank you, she herself gave this shepherd the land where her prison was located.
