Mammoth Lakes is a popular and busy year-round tourist destination. While the town is small the area is huge and has something to offer for everyone. Skiing and snowboarding dominate during winter but the summer has everything from hiking and biking to music festivals, fishing, swimming and more.

Highlight • Settlement

The mountain town is a great base camp for hiking the Sierras or take zero days and do a resupply along the Pacific Crest Trail. It is a busy tourist spot, but therefor has numerous hotels and motels and a perfect infrastructure. It is more expensive than the towns of Bishop, Lone Pine or Independence. To get a full resupply, you can shop at the Grocery Outlet that has good prices and a great variety of (hiker) food. It is close to a laundromat, so you can do your laundry and either shop or enjoy a decent coffee at the "Looney bean" next to it. You will also find a drugstore, some outfitters, a hospital and many, many restaurants.
