The Schwentine is one of the longest rivers in Schleswig-Holstein at 68 km[3]. It rises 1.7 km southwest of the highest point in the state, the Bungsberg, on a spring meadow northeast of the village of Bergfeld (Kasseedorf) and flows through the entire Holstein Switzerland with numerous large lakes.
