Jackfall Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Impressive and wonderful at the same time.
The cafe is like new. Great view of the waterfall from the terrace.
On a short hike directly at the Jackfall you can feel the elemental force of the water.
Nice spot at the bottom of the falls with a view of the roar.

The campsite right on the river invites you to linger.

Start of the Stone Age Trail Ansvar

Highlight • Historical Site

Here begins a short tour through the forest to the Stone Age graves. Here at the beginning there is a sign with a good description in Swedish and English.
Very informative and interesting, unique here are the tombs from the Stone Age in this region, about 4,500 BC.
Follow the small path that is also marked in the course. Always keep right to get to the Stone Age Tomb.

Stone Age Grave II

Highlight • Historical Site

Here is a tomb almost 7,000 years old, when this place was still an island and the first people caught seals and fish here by the sea. The grave was right next to a settlement.
The information board provides informative information about the tomb and the way of life of the people from about 4,500 BC ago.
Traces of the excavations show that there used to be good living conditions here.

Beaver Dams

Highlight • Natural

Beaver 🦫 area, the animals are very active here and cut down everything that gets in front of their teeth. Even large and thick birches are laid flat. The small stream is dammed in several places by beaver dams.

Jockfall, a small community of Överkalix in Swedish Lapland is a very popular spot for salmon fishermen, because the best salmon in Europe passes here. However, I don't come here to fish but for the impressive waterfall. At ten meters it is not very high but very fierce due to the rapids of the Kalix river that take place here …
