Nail machine from Germany's oldest nail factory in Arzberg

Highlight • Monument

One of the many crafts associated with iron processing in Arzberg was that of the nail smith. On March 19, 1847, master nailsmith Konrad Michael Künzel received the concession to manufacture nails. In 1905, his son Erhard Künzel commissioned Germany's first nailing machine for square-conical nails in Leupoldshammer. This machine was built in-house by an engineer specially hired from France. The company in the front G'steinigt was bought in 1907 by the porcelain manufacturer Carl Auvera. The company is still family-owned today.

Beautiful, easy-to-ride trail along the Röslau. There are wonderful views of the river every now and then, definitely a trail to enjoy.

Röslau Gorge Gsteinigt

Highlight • Gorge

The stony river bed of the Röslau (a tributary of the Eger) and the many exposed rocks have probably contributed to the naming of the Röslau Gorge "Gsteinigt" above Arzberg. There is also the mouth of a historic tunnel from the neighboring Arzberg mining area. In August 2009, the "Gsteinigt" was included in the one hundred most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria.

Just around the corner in idyllic nature is the inn "Im Gsteinigt" with many delicacies.

Arzberg Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The lake is a paradise for anglers and day trippers. The path around the lake is handicapped accessible and is often used. Various hiking trails also lead there. At the lake there is also a campsite with long-term campers, a restaurant and a parking lot.
The history of the reservoir begins as early as 1870, when alum ore and lignite were mined there - and the "Klausenteich" was created in an open-pit mine. Destroyed by a flood in 1935, it was rebuilt by the local innkeeper and expanded in the 1970s to become a cooling water reservoir for the former power plant in Arzberg.
