Lagoon Park in San Rafael

Lagoon Park is a large community park (10 acres) located on the Marin County Civic Center campus and surrounds a man-made lagoon. It provides expansive views of the landmark Civic Center buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. China Camp State Park

China Camp State Park sits along the shores of San Pablo Bay, with 15 miles of nature trails where hikers and bikers can enjoy panoramic waterfront views, wildlife, oak trees and open meadows. The Park surrounds a historic Chinese-American shrimp fishing village and includes several unique features. A museum is located in the Park to learn about its history, a café for snacks and drinks, a walk-in tent campground and picnic areas.

China Camp State Park charges an entrance fee to explore the grounds, either by car or per person. Annual parking + trail passes are available, or you can purchase a single day-use pass. Parking is $5 per vehicle for the day, or you can park along San Pedro Road without a fee and pay the $3 trail use fee.

This multi-use trail winds through switchbacks, coastal hills and woodlands throughout the Park. Several wildflower varieties line the path through madrone and coast live oak with great views of San Pablo Bay. Many trails connect to this route, offering multiple options for a short loop or an extended hike to explore the beautiful grounds.

Attention novice riders: This is a perfect trail for everybody new on a mountain bike. On top of that Bay View Trail – as the name already suggests – offers magnificent views of the San Pablo Bay.

Highlight • Historical Site

This historic missile site, decommissioned in 1971, is now an excellent spot to take photos of the fantastic 360° views of Mount Tamalpais and San Pablo Bay. A picnic table is here to enjoy lunch and take a break amid the gorgeous scenery.

Back Ranch Meadows Campground

The campground offers fantastic walk-in, tent-only campsites to spend the night in the Park and enjoy a peaceful retreat from the city. The sites are on a first-come, first-serve basis and include a picnic table, potable water, a fire ring and a wooden footlocker.
