Venta Spur Trail

Highlight • Trail

Nice trail, but possibly better for a leisurely bike ride, not a road bike ride:
This trails turns off from the Peters Canyon Trail (near Irvine Blvd) and runs to Jeffrey Rd. It is a nice, well maintained trail in a beautiful setting, BUT ...
it is not possible to cross Eastwood, Yale and Westwood where the trail meets the road. Instead you are met by a high curb, and a sign asking you to walk/ride 80yds down the road, cross at the crosswalk, and then go back again. This is utterly annoying - and I have seen most people just walking straight across.
Also when reaching Jeffrey Rd you need to turn either way and get to the next traffic light in order to join onto the Jeffrey Open Space Trail.

Cook's Corner

Highlight • Pub

Cook’s Corner is a classic stop for cyclists riding through Santiago Canyon and one of the most popular biker hangouts in Southern California. It’s casual and bike-friendly, with shaded picnic tables and plenty of space to park. Grab a burger or a cold drink, rest your legs, and soak in the lively atmosphere—especially on weekends when it’s packed with motorcycles and live music.
