However, the origins of human presence are much older, as evidenced by the discovery of a stone hammer dating back to the time of the Euganeans [2].
The first written mention is found in a document of 1221: it is the will of Giovanni de Bonio, consul of the municipality of Treviso who also left duobus mansis iacentibus Conseo to his sons. However, the importance of the town grew from the mid-fifteenth century as a destination for pilgrimages.
