Barbiano

Highlight • Settlement

Nestled above Ponte Gardena and the Isarco River, Barbiano is known for its slightly leaning bell tower and its woods full of delicious chestnuts. Among others, Goethe stopped here during his trip to Italy. There are numerous hiking and off-road cycling trails in the municipality.

Climb from Waidbruck to Barbian

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Another challenging short climb out of the valley. This leads from Waidbruck to Barbian. From there you can continue on the same level towards Bressanone.

Weidbruck, the small village at the entrance to the Val Gardena valley, is the starting point for countless tours both north and south. The Trostburg Castle of the Lords of Wolkenstein stands beautifully above Waidbruck.

Although I only drove the part down (nice descent), but I am met by countless racers. Beautiful view of the Sciliar, South Tyrol's landmark in the Dolomites.

View of the Seiser Alm

Highlight • Monument

At 56 square kilometers, the Alpe di Siusi is the largest high plateau in Europe and encompasses much more than the town sign at the beginning. And yes, many paths are closed to cyclists. However, those who come here to see the beauty of nature can also do so from a paved road or a forest path. If you want to ride single trails - please please do it somewhere else!!! The bans annoyed me at the beginning too. A detailed and comprehensible explanation that I then received from the local tourist office made me see the matter in a different light. In the summer months "hell" must be loose here. It can no longer be regulated otherwise. There are barriers on 4 meter wide paths to separate pedestrians from cyclists.
