Grabowsee Beach

Highlight • Beach

A small, sunny sandy beach, crystal clear water and a lot of forest around it: the Grabowsee is a wonderful gem in the north of Oranienburg. Some may know it more as a starting point for a well-known lost place. The former sanatorium attracts photographers with all sorts of bizarre photo motifs.

Beautiful lake, especially if you like it quiet. The road to Grabowsee, however, is riddled with potholes.

There are several places on the western shore of Lake Grabow where you can get right to the shore and which are even suitable for swimming. This one is located about halfway along the western shore and offers a shallow lake access as well as a somewhat adventurous skipping rope with access from the surrounding trees 😀.

Path along the Oder-Havel Canal

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Oder-Havel Canal (OHK) is a section of the federal waterway Havel-Oder waterway and extends over 54 kilometers from the Havel south of Oranienburg (Oranienburg Havel) to the Alten Oder (Oderberger waters) near Niederfinow.

The assumed beginning of the actual Oder-Havel Canal is today's mouth of the Oranienburger Havel. It leads through the Lehnitzsee, which previously did not belong to the Havel, and reaches the Lehnitz lock. The canal continues for the most part following the earlier Malzer Canal and then replaces the older Finow Canal up to its eastern end. Its top posture extends from the upper water of the Lehnitz lock to the Niederfinow ship lift. The natural resources of the catchment areas of the Havel and the Werbelliner waters and, in the event of drought, also the Elde via the Müritz-Havel waterway are used to supply water to the vertices.

View of Lehnitz Lock

Highlight • Viewpoint

Since 1940, the Lehnitz lock connects the different water levels heights of the Havel-Oder waterway with each other. Every day, freight ships and pleasure craft are hauled here, having to overcome a height of six meters.

These remains of the track have long been closed and still lead along the hiking trail. In the past, the railway ran over the Klinkerhafen Bridge and the Oder Havel Canal to Oranienburg.
