In 2021, the Embassy of the United States of America in France and the Hypermur association present the FAMA – French American Mural Art project. This series of monumental four-handed street art frescoes addressing social issues common to our two countries, continues a long history of artistic exchanges between France and the United States. For Echappées d’Art, Loraine Motti (FR) and Alexis Diaz (USA), respectively French and Puerto Rican, created the fresco. Loraine Motti addresses the recurring theme of landscape and ecology, interpreted in a dreamlike manner and punctuated by numerous colors. As for Alexis Diaz, his fantastical universe borrows as much from Latin American magical realism as from the aesthetics of the engravings of the naturalists who, in the 18th century, accompanied the colonists to explore the world and inventory its species.
