Missunde Ferry on the Schlei

Highlight • Rest Area

"Ferryman get it". For more than 500 years (first mention in 1471), there is a ferry at the Missunder Enge. One suspects, however, that many people were transferred by boat from one side to the other much earlier. Already in 1115, Missunde is called "Versundt" in historical sources. During the Schleswig-Holstein survey and the German-Danish war, the narrowest part of the Schlei was a strategically important place and often fought over. A documentation of these events can be found in the Village Museum Brodersby, Missunder Fährstraße 4.
Perhaps interesting is this report: de.wikisource.org/wiki/Von_Schleswig_nach_Missunde
Today, in peaceful times, we can use the ferry as a shortcut to get to the Schwansener side. On the ferry fit max. 8 cars, with trailer even less. After the start, the Missunde II jerks and twitches once on its steel hawsers (it is a cable ferry) and chugs comfortably to the other shore. There are nostalgic feelings. On the way back the same procedere. With a fare of just € 0.60 / adult on foot a cheap pleasure.
On the Angelner side there is a cozy snack for fish sandwiches and simple small dishes. My fish sandwich was delicious, rolls fresh from the oven, warm and crispy, fish fresh and tender (sherry-sild). Totally nice, friendly elderly landlords and a nice environment with tables and benches inside and outside, as well as a beautifully landscaped outdoor area (with flowers and children's playground) What more could you ask for. Open: Tuesday-Sunday approx. 12.00-approx.19.30, closed on Mondays.
If that's not enough, head to the ferry house at Missunde. Since 1805 there is an inn at this place. Seasonally different opening times. On offer also accommodation and rooms for celebrations. On the homepage you will find the menu as pdf-download. Reads himself promising. I think the prices are not too high for an economy with such an exposed location.

Scenic view of Ornumer Noor

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Ornumer Noor is one of the side bays of the Schlei, which is connected to the Baltic Sea fjord with a narrow flow. The Noor also has about the same salt content as the Schlei in the area. This bay has become the ideal spawning ground for eel, perch, bream, pike and roach. The name giver for this noor, the Ornum estate, also has the fishing rights for this lake. And that since 1789.

Ornumer Noor

Highlight • Lake

The path along Gut Ornum allows a unique view over the fields and the Ornumer Noor, which stretches far into the country. The landscape forms a pretty play of colors. The Gut Ornum complex is at the end of a long avenue and is privately owned.

After the slab path, there are a few "stair-like wide" steps. Once you have mastered the obstacle, you drive directly along the Noor. You should pay attention to the sign, only drive along it if it hasn't rained for a long time.
