Carn an t-Suidhe Climb

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

The Carn an t-Suidhe climb from Fort Augustus is a stunning Highland ascent, averaging 6% with steeper sections peaking around 12%. The road climbs steadily out of the village, revealing sweeping views of Loch Ness and the surrounding glens as you gain height. The tarmac is generally smooth, but exposed sections can be windy, so pace yourself and stay seated on the steeper ramps. Cresting the top feels like entering another world—quiet, remote, and beautifully wild.

Comments

February 4, 2024,Foyers loop again on a cold wet miserable day
I left Inverness in the rain as not to bad, by the time I reached Dores I went into the bus shelter and thought --continue or go back OK onward maybe go home via Inverfaragaig once there Foyers is not far so decided to go the whole Hogg
Hard going on the gravel bike with 40mm tyres and head wind for 20 miles
A damp day (but ok) out as far as Foyers, Onto the top road, and home also I beat the storm.
