Speyside Way Forest Singletrack

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A lovely smooth section of single track running along the edge of the forest, and following the Speyside Way. The perfect introduction to offroad riding. Surrounded by beautiful native Scots Pine trees with plentiful wild blueberries growing underneath.

Fun traffic free section of the Speyside Way. Suitable for gravel bikes as well. Undulating with some fun little descent sections to keep you on your toes. Fun in both directions, so can form part of a loop or an out and back.

Ryvoan Bothy

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Ryvoan is a classic Scottish bothy, a haven on the open ground beyond the Ryvoan Pass. It's a popular shelter too, being relatively easy to access from Glen More.

There's a beautiful poem on the door by AM Lawrence, a poet from Burgh by Sands in Cumbria. The piece is called 'I Leave Tonight from Euston' and encapsulates the thrill of leaving civilisation to seek out wild places, such as those we find in the Cairngorms.

Legend has is that the water here is so green because the pixies wash their clothes in the water here. Or it might be to do with the trees. Whatever, it's an utterly lovely, slightly incongruous and therefore somewhat surprising place to spend a little time!

Loch Morlich

Highlight • Beach

A lovely place to pause along the edge of the deservedly popular Loch Morlich. There is a sandy beach nearby and stunning views across the water towards the northern peaks of the Cairngorms National Park.

Loch an Eilein

Highlight • Viewpoint

Around Loch an Eileen, you'll find a lovely, winding gravel bike path. It's not technical, just pure enjoyment in the beautiful scenery.

Was quite put off initially about this route but it's actually really good.
Nice climb out of Aviemore then once at the top then there's a great decent off the top

Sluggan Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

Part of General Wade's military road, built as part of an attempt to subdue the notoriously grumpy (from an English perspective, at any rate) Highland populations which has risen up in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1715, the original bridge was washed away by a storm in 1829. This one was built shortly after, and originally had no safety railing or parapets at all, which rendered it somewhat precarious, at 9 metres (29.5 ft) high.
