Ardverikie Castle

Highlight • Monument

Beautiful estate castle on the edge of Loch Laggan.

Used in filming for Netflix series 'The Crown' as a stand in for the Queen's Scotland stay (Balmoral Castle) as we were passing there, so couldn't stay too long or we'd be in the background of one of season 4's episodes with our bikepacking bikes!

Also known from the British TV Series 'Monarch of the Glen'.

From here you can follow a trail leading to a beautiful sandy beach at the Eastern end of Loch Laggan. On a clear day there are views down the waters towards a number of hills including the Munros of the remote Creag Meagaidh.

Yes, you read correctly... Deer Park Road. This stretch of beautiful gravel road goes right through a patch of forest full of deer. There's a good chance of seeing some of them if you keep your eyes open.
