Wiseman's Bridge Beach

Highlight • Parking

This is a nice little beach between Amroth and Saundersfoot. There’s lots of free parking just next to the beach. The Wiseman’s Bridge Inn is a lovely pub and has an outside seating area.

Pleasant Valley Bridleway

Highlight • Cycleway

This lovely little valley connects the coast path and Wiseman's Bridge to the old iron works at Stepaside. It's particularly beautiful in spring when the wildflowers are at their best and butterflies flit from flower to flower. Walkers, cyclists and horse riders all use this pretty bridleway.

Stepaside Ironworks Ruins

Highlight • Monument

Opened in 1849 by the Pembrokeshire Coal and Ironworks Company, the Stepaside iron works were an imporant part of the region's industry. Here, ore collected from the cliffs between Saundersfoot and Amroth would be processed in the blast furnaces and coke ovens.

A railway was built to transport anthracite coal to the harbour at Saundersfoot, though it ceased operation in 1939, not long after all activities stopped at the workshops in 1930. Today, it makes for an excellent walk, full of industrial heritage and natural beauty.

Excellent pasties and pies and their salted caramel brownie is amazing too.

Often bypassed by visitors flocking to the colourful Tenby next door, Saundersfoot is a seaside Pembrokeshire village with a harbour, golden sandy beach, local train station and well loved New Year's Day swim!

This is a splendid viewpoint above Wiseman's Bridge Beach. The vista south towards Monkstone Point is particularly good.

This section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path follows an old railway line that's now a cycleway. The railway was used to transport coal from the colliery at Stepaside to Saundersfoot. It closed in 1939.
