Tweed Cycleway Footbridge at Crown Wood

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

Beautiful woodland link before crossing over the Tweed on a small footbridge, all part of the Tweed Cycleway.

6.35 km

There's a track running adjacent to the River Tweed here. The surface was a bit wet and muddy, but able to sustain a higher speed through it.

Old Manor Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Old Manor Bridge was built in 1702. There's a sign right next to it that tells you that.

Neidpath Tunnel

Highlight • Cycleway

Very long and a pitch black tunnel next to river Tweed towards Peebles. You walk 30metres inside the tunnel and you can't see a thing. Water droppings were making it even more dramatic. After 150m with head torches we decided to return back.

View of Neidpath Castle

Highlight • Castle

Neidpath Castle was founded as far back as 1190 but the present castle was mostly built in the 14th century. It's a rare example of a fortified tower house.
It's not open to the public although you can walk past close by. It is a holiday and wedding venue though so you can hire it if you wish. The castle has also featured as the backdrop in several films and tv series.

Fotheringham Bridge is a steel-truss footbridge across the River Tweed. It is located a half-mile (0.8 km) west of the centre of Peebles in the Scottish Borders.
