A classic Essex village green and a nice place to pause for a break. The pub opposite is also pretty good.

Best traversed southbound

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Whichever direction you take this, you have one gut-busting climb to do, but overall I think southbound is the best way. You get the climb immediately out of the way and are downhill or level for the rest of the ride. Heading northbound is fine until after the S-bend, then bring the pain up to Little Hallingbury FP 18.

Flood-Prone Road

Highlight (Segment) • Structure

In rainy spells this stretch of road can flood. Cyclists can just about make it if by barrelling through at high speed and hold your legs up! As of 2024, it has been cleared out periodically, but overall this stretch of road can't handle the volume of traffic that now uses it, people from Sheering/Sawbo using it to get to/from M11 junction 7a.
