Hackness is a small village with a Grade I listed church, parts of which date from the 11th century. Hackness Hall and its landscape gardens were created in the 1790s.

St Peter's Church, Hackness

Highlight • Monument

A somewhat ridiculously impressive church stands here in the tiny village of Hackness. St Peter's is Grade-I listed, so, clearly, I was not the only one who was impressed!

It dates back to just after the Norman invasion in the 11th century, although already in the 9th century there was a nunnery here. The highlight is a beautifully carved Anglo-Saxon cross, dated to either late 8th or early 9th century. Rest your bike somewhere and make sure to marvel at this historical gem.
