Glencoe Lochan Trail

Highlight • Lake

There is stunning highland scenery to be had here in the woodland trails surrounding Glencoe Lochan. The Glencoe Lochan Trail gives you just that. At only around a mile long (1.6 km) in length, it is short in length but big in views as you walk amongst huge redwood trees and around the quaintest of ornamental ponds. It is a gem of a walk following easy way-marked trails through ornamental woodland at the foot of Glen Coe.

Glencoe Lochan

Highlight • Forest

Glencoe Lochan was created by Lord Strathcona, the former resident of Glencoe House. As well as the little lochan, he planted tall redwoods in an attempt to create a landscape that would comfort his homesick Canadian wife. Today, the lochan's trails make for a beautiful walk, especially on still days when the surrounding mountains are reflected in its mirror-like surface.

Glencoe Lochan Woodland Trail

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Woodland Trails at Glencoe Lochan are a beautiful place for an afternoon stroll. The path winds through giant North American conifers and features excellent views towards the ridges of Beinn a' Bheithir above Loch Leven. Spring is a particularly lovely time to hike here, when you can expect a beguiling carpet of bluebells.
