Fabulous view of Kessock Bridge with a bench too. It’s even possible to wild camp here if you have a small tent.

Ord Hill Summit Cairn

Highlight • Viewpoint

The summit of Ord Hill is the location of an Iron Age fort, neighbouring that at Craig Phadrig over the Beauly Firth. Whilst the summit itself doesn't have the views the hillside is famous for, it's so close to the main viewpoint and such a pleasant forest run, it would be a shame to miss it.

The geological subsoil of the Black Isle consists predominantly of Old Red Sandstone. But not here. In the south-eastern corner of the peninsula there is a band of conglomerate under the Kessock Bridge extending north to Munlochy Bay. Ord Hill is part of this material (conglomerate) and is exposed at this point.
