Perky Blenders Coffee Kiosk

Highlight • Cafe

There's a Perky Blenders coffee place here based in a converted caravan. It's a great place to have a flat white and get some rest.

An Iron Age hillfort once stood here, in the northern reaches of Epping Forest. The earthworks are still clearly visible and would have protected an area of 11 acres (4.5 hectares). The legend goes that Boudica's last stand against the Romans occurred here, though there's no actual evidence that this is the case.

The Green Ride, Epping Forest

Highlight • Forest

Gorgeous wide gravel trail slicing right through Epping Forest. Great running any time of the year. Firm underfoot in the winter, lush green in the summer and golden in the autumn. Perfect.

Kings Oak Restaurant, Epping Forest

Highlight • Restaurant

Possible to get some refreshments here. Burgers and hotdogs, cold drinks or coffee. Just about food- don't expect mind-blowing experience. It gives you calories but that's it. Well price is not more than £5 so can't really complain. Hehe

Stop by this large, grassy clearing in Epping Forest for excellent views of the countryside beyond London and the M25.

There's a pub serving food here (The Kings Oak), and usually an ice cream van. There's also public toilets with a water tap outside which is really handy for top-ups on hot days!

High Beech Tea Hut

Highlight • Forest

High Beech Tea hut is a great place to hang out, drink excellent (cheap) tea and hearty bread pudding, and chat with other cyclists. Tends to be a lot of MTBers up there, but everyone is friendly. It's always funny to see someone spattered in mud emerge from the forest!

The tea is excellent and on a sunny day there's a lovely view of the forest and beyond, and lots of dog walkers etc. Well worth a stop before your final run back (all downhill!) back to London
