Old Fleet Church

This picturesque church sits behind the Fleet, the vast lagoon created by Chesil Beach. It was once the parish church and has parts dating back to the 15th century, but it was partially damaged by the Great Storm of 1824 and then replaced by a newer church nearby. Today it is a mortuary chapel and a nice find on walks in the area.

It’s also a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the magnificent variety of wildlife found here. The Fleet connects to the sea via a narrow channel at Ferrybridge into Portland Harbour.
