Lake McDonald

Highlight • Lake

As you make your way along the road you will see Lake McDonald. The park's largest lake at nearly 500 feet deep and ten miles long. The towering peaks surrounding the lake tell tales of glaciers sculpting even the most resilient rock. These glaciers not only formed the expansive "u-shaped" valley where Lake McDonald resides but also carved smaller hanging valleys, creating waterfalls accessible via numerous hiking trails.

Inside North Fork Road

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Situated between Camas Creek and Logging Creek, the Inside North Fork Road Multi-Use Path offers a scenic ride. This quiet trail is a gem for cyclists as there is no car traffic and the gravel is compact. It is one of just four paths in the park where cycling is welcomed.

The Logging Creek Ranger Station is the park's oldest continuously operating site. It features a rustic log cabin, reflecting the classic western park style. Don't miss the summer fire guard's cabin!

Polebridge Mercantile

Highlight • Cafe

The food at the Mercantile is delicious, the view is just beautiful, and the people are very helpful. The Bearclaws are incredibly delicious, the best I've ever had.
Really worth a visit.

North Fork Hostel in Polebridge

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Great place to spend a night or two whether you're riding the Divide or any other adventure, the host is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area (he's a ranger in Glacier Park). Lots of ride options from Polebridge, Bowman Lake or the Inside Road to Apgar are really spectacular, Glacier is one of the coolest places in the US, spend some time.
