Since 1803, Clervaux has been the seat of a parish and deanery. Previously, the town belonged ecclesiastically to Munshausen. The first parish church was located on what is now the market square on Groβgasse. From 1910 to 1912, it was replaced by the current church, built in the Neo-Romanesque style according to plans by Johannes Franziskus Klomp. The same architect also designed the buildings of the Benedictine abbey.

The building is constructed of slate, blending harmoniously into the Oeslingen landscape. The veneration of the two martyrs Cosmas and Damian likely dates back to the influence of the Diocese of Liège, to which Clervaux belonged until the French Revolution. Around 1700, Count Albert de Lannoy received relics of these saints from Rome. They are still kept in the church today. The mosaics on the tympanum above the main portal refer to the patronage of these saints over the church.

Clervaux Castle

Highlight • Castle

Clervaux Castle is built on the side of a rock above the town. Built in successive stages, the castle's origins date back to the 12th century. The oldest part, the west wing with the country house, probably dates from an initiative of Count Gerhard van Sponheim, brother of the Count of Vianden.
Destroyed to ruins on December 17, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, the castle was purchased by the Luxembourg state and completely restored.

Since the 1970s, the castle has been home to several institutions, including several excellent museums and exhibitions:
The Museum of the Battle of the Bulge was opened in 1974, the west wing of the castle houses the Museum of Scale Models of Luxembourg Castles, and the wing houses the famous photographic exhibition "The Family of Man", a World Heritage Site of the UNESCO state.

Lellingen — Village and Church

Highlight • Settlement

Lellingen is considered one of the best-preserved traditional villages in the region. It has been designated a model village by the National Heritage Authority, preserving its authentic character to this day.
Lellingen, a charming village in the Oesling region, located about 10 kilometers east of Wiltz, is located at the intersection of three streams: the Lellgerbaach, the Pëntschbach, and the largest, the Clerve, which surrounds the chapel. The original chapel, dedicated to Saint Peter, was probably built around 1750 and consisted of an elongated building with four small windows. In the 19th century, the chapel was expanded and given its definitive form. With its unique architecture, the chapel features a narrow, elongated chancel and a higher, roof-shaped transept. In the center of the transept stands a small tower with a single bell dating from 1840, dedicated to Saint John. The interior is characterized by statues and reliquaries that reflect the rural piety of the Baroque and 19th centuries.
