There has been a church building in Froitzheim since the 9th century. The current church was built between 1868 and 1870 in the neo-Romanesque style according to plans by the Cologne architect Heinrich Nagelschmidt. The church is a three-aisled hall church with a semicircular apse in the east and a four-story bell tower in the west.
Since 2010, Froitzheim has no longer been an independent parish, which meant that the church also lost the status of a parish church and was downgraded to a branch church. The former parish was merged with the remaining parishes in the Vettweiß municipal area to form the large parish of St. Marien Vettweiß.
