View of Nuremberg and Moritzberg from Eckershof–Gutzberg Road

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Great little road between Eckershof and the B14 / Gutzberg. With a great panoramic view over Nuremberg and behind it the Hersbrucker Schweiz with Moritzberg.

Upper Gate with Katharinenturm (Heilsbronn)

Highlight • Historical Site

A distinctive feature of Heilsbronn is the massive St. Catherine's Tower, which was built between 1770 and 1774 on the foundations of the former St. Catherine's Church. The minster is the church of the former monastery of Heilsbronn. The Cistercian monastery was founded in 1132 by the Counts of Abenberg and was the Hohenzollern burial place from 1297 to 1625. 41 members of the house are buried in the crypt. Steps lead down to a spring that rises in the middle of the church. In the Middle Ages, the monastery distributed rich possessions throughout Franconia up to Regensburg, and lands in Württemberg also belonged to the monastery.

Beautiful old church - the arch at the entrance says something from 17xx. The tree in front of it is simply used as an Easter tree instead of an Easter fountain

Nemsdorf village

Highlight • Settlement

In the 13th century the town consisted of four farmsteads.[12] In 1434, five estates were listed in the margravial Salbuch for "Nemszdorff", of which only one was margravial, while two other estates and two Selden estates were under foreign rule. In 1530 there were already nine properties, one of which was under the margraviate of Ansbach, three were under the imperial city of Nuremberg and five were under the Nuremberg patrician family Haller von Hallerstein. In 1623 and 1682 there were only seven estates, all of which were under the control of Nuremberg landlords. In 1732 there were ten estates and one shepherd's house in Nemsdorf, according to the official descriptions by Johann Georg Vetter. Half an estate was under the administration of the Schwabach box office, three estates under the rich alms of the imperial city of Nuremberg and six and a half estates under the Nuremberg owners (von Ebner: one, von Haller: five and a half).
