Village Church of Seelübbe

Highlight • Religious Site

The Protestant, listed Seelübbe village church is located in Seelübbe, a district of the district town of Prenzlau in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg. The church belongs to the Uckermark parish of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia.

The stone church was built in the second half of the 13th century. It consists of the original nave with arched windows that were enlarged in the 18th century and the church tower in the west, built in 1898 in the neo-Romanesque style made of bricks on a ground floor made of field stones. Its north and south walls end in stepped gables, between which lies the slate-covered gable roof, from which rises an octagonal roof turret covered with a pointed helmet. Above the stepped, arched portal in the west there is a relief of Agnus Dei in the tympanum.

The interior is covered by a plastered flat ceiling framed by coves. The church furnishings include a three-story wooden altarpiece from 1607, which was subsequently converted into a pulpit altar, which is crowned by a relief with the Resurrection. In the predella there is a relief of the Last Supper, which is flanked by the Annunciation and the Nativity in side niches. The parapet of the pulpit basket was decorated with reliefs of the four evangelists. The organ on the gallery in the west was built in 1906 by Albert Kienscherf.

Hidden but nice swimming area. Someone has labeled it a "naturist" bathing place - but that does not seem to be official.

Sonnenkap Campsite

Highlight • Rest Area

The Sonnenkap campsite opened on June 1st, 2021.
There are pitches for caravans, tents, but also rentable huts and accommodation for cyclists. The campsite also has a restaurant, shop, sauna and salt cave. Big advantage, it's not far to the water and you have a very good view over the lake.
