On the northeast side of the Schwerin Lake lies between Hohen Viecheln and Flessenow the lake and the nature reserve Döpe.

Dobin Castle
The fortification, built by the Obotrite prince Niklot in the first half of the 12th century as a refuge for his people on a narrow isthmus between Lake Schwerin and a body of water later known as the Döpe (at this location), is, according to researchers, of enormous historical significance.

This fortress became known throughout Germany through the "Wendish Crusade" of 1147.

The castle not only resisted the Saxon and Danish warriors; on the contrary,

the siege was abandoned.
