Finow Canal Towpath

Highlight • Trail

A very nice cycling and hiking trail along the Finow Canal. Very interesting are also the historic locks along the canal and a number of industrial monuments.

Bicycles should be pushed according to the sign, as it is very narrow there. Not everyone adheres to the rules.

Finowkanal Towpath Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

Great bike path along the towpath. Beautiful area no matter what time of year. Everything quite flat - good to drive on.

Rosenbeck Lock

Highlight • Structure

Very beautiful lake along the Werbellinkanals. Starts at the lock Rosenbeck. There is a bank right next to the lock where you can have a nice picnic and beside a great view of the lake you can watch the ships passing through the lock. Definitely a highlight for families with children.

The navigable Werbellin Canal connects the Werbellinsee with the Oder-Havel Canal and the Finow Canal. As early as 1609, the Werbellinsee was tapped via the Nettelgraben to feed the first Finow Canal. The expansion into the Werbellin Canal took place in 1765 in order to improve the water supply to the second Finow Canal, which was completed in 1746. The withdrawal of water resulted in a drop in the water level in Lake Werbellin.

Finow Canal

Highlight • River

The workshop with sales room is located in a red brick house from 1887 and is located directly on the Finow Canal. Makes a very nice impression from the outside. Since the opening times vary, we recommend calling in advance.

September 30, 2023,Weil's so schön war : Nochmal zum Werbellinsee und Nachschauen, ob die Kraniche noch da sind...
Only a few cranes left in the meadows in the Buckowsee interior...
Nevertheless, another very nice tour (also suitable for e-touring bikes), and not too crowded despite the weekend (except Altenhof, of course).
If you find yourself in the area, be sure to pay a visit to the “madhouse” in Werbellin!

Unfortunately, the Schleusengraf is permanently closed 😒

And another beautiful bike ride through the Schorfheide from/to Werbelinsee. Great cycling weather, a very cold wind, a headwind, and again quite a few meters of elevation gain. Great paved bike paths, but currently several construction sites with detours to the signposted trails. Many locks are closed for renovations. Marienwerder has a great ice cream parlor, and Altenhof, the old …

The gravel roads at the beginning are a dream.
A relaxed start to the week.

Scenic tour of Eberswalde to Werbellinsee. There are a few inns and places to have a picnic. Largely on smooth bike lanes, which unfortunately is not always the case in the area.
