St. Oswald Church in Tannenberg

Highlight • Religious Site

The parish church of St. Oswald, which is visible from afar, was built from scratch in 1827 by the city mason Mathias Left from Schongau instead of an older church that had been demolished due to dilapidation. The small and simple church has a continuous flat ceiling with paintings by Nikolaus Augner from Schongau from 1825. The interior furnishings such as the high altar, pulpit and stalls are reminiscent of earlier classicism.

St. Joseph Chapel in Tannenberg

Highlight • Religious Site

On the southern outskirts of Tannenberg you can see the Chapel of St. Joseph, the patron saint of Tannenberg, in a wonderful location. It was built in 1774 and shows ceiling paintings by the painter Franz Xaver Bernhard von Eggenthal. The chapel is only open sporadically. At the back of the chapel there is a nice rest area (with seating) from which you have a wonderful view of the Ostallgäuer and Ammergau mountains up to the Zugspitze.

View of Kienberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Wonderful view, the winding road to the top has it in itself, but if you're up there is a wonderful view of the Auerberg valley.

The local Catholic chapel is located in the middle of the hamlet of Krottenhill; the small hall building built in 1894 with a polygonal choir closure and roof turret is a listed building.
