Diebsteige Trail

Highlight • Trail

Brilliant little trail, in autumn you have to be a little careful because of slippery leaves.

At the Little Castle Lindenau

Highlight • Restaurant

Whether hiking or cycling, the Schlössle is easily accessible from the Lonetal. Uphill a bit and you can eat well or just linger and have a drink.

A fantastic barbecue and picnic area in the countryside. The site on the Neandertalweg trail is located in the middle of the forest. Birds chirp and leaves rustle gently. An ideal place for a break in the midst of nature.

The Stadel Cave in Hohlenstein is often referred to as St. Peter's Basilica of the Stone Age, since important cult finds from the Palaeolithic were made here, such as the lion man and a skull burial.

Vogelherd Cave

Highlight • Cave

Around the Vogelherd Cave is the Archäopark Vogelherd, which is all about the caves and the Ice Age art on the Swabian Alb. The highlights are, of course, the cave and the more than 40,000-year-old "works of art" of the then cave dwellers, such as the small sculpture of a "lion man". In the outdoor area there are many stations to discover more, sometimes you are even encouraged to join. The park is open daily from 10 to 18 o'clock, only on Mondays is rest day.

Kaltenburg Ruins

Highlight • Castle

The castle dates from the early 12th century and came into the possession of the Counts of Helfenstein in the 14th century. After the castle was severely damaged in the Thirty Years War, it was only partially rebuilt. The ruins fell into disrepair and it was not until the 20th century that efforts were made to preserve the castle's condition. In the 1980s, large parts of the castle ruins were renovated and, above all, the two towers on the valley side were completely repaired.

In 2010 part of the defensive wall on the slope collapsed. The Kaltenburg-Verein organized a repair of the shield wall only with donations. The work was completed in the summer of 2018 and now the castle shines again in all its glory.

Always beautiful on the Alp💪
The Lone Valley and its caves are beautiful.
The Kaltenburg Castle ruins are also a beautiful spot above the Lone Valley.
The forest was busy and closed due to tree felling, so the tour was a bit shorter than planned.😉
It was still incredibly good, and as always, a landscape I love.🤩
