Weltachsblick Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

A hike to the Weltachsblick is always worth a short trip:
If you walk up the concrete road to Gersweiler Weg, walk up to the right at the crossroads in the forest, you will see the Weltachs. From there you can look in the direction of the Pälzer Weltachs (located on the 459 meter high Kleiner Roßrück).
The spiritual father of the Pälzer Weltachs is the well-known Pälzer dialect poet Paul Münch, from whom comes the poem "Die Weltachs" and from it the verse that is inscribed on the rock:
then the world axis will be smothered,
and muffled that nothing happened

Mehlinger Heath

Highlight • Natural

The Mehlinger Heide is in full bloom in August. On sandy roads you can walk through them. But it is also worth the round to expand the eselsbach and the pond.

The Mehlinger Heide is a great tour with 3.99 sq km and had a wonderful purple touch. Much of the flowers had already faded, but that didn't spoil the tour. The participants were enlightened about the heath with exciting questions. And at the end there was delicious food at the Dampfnudelhof 😋

We started at the Mehlinger Heide car park and then did the classic tour. Halfway through, we turned left into a wonderfully cool forest section up to the Weltachsblick, which I had imagined to be more spectacular 😉
But the second forest section, after the U-turn, was also wonderfully cool and quiet. The "Ultes Bank" rest area was really great. …

It's good that the sun didn't shine today. Even in this gloomy weather, many people were out and about on the Mehlinger Heide. No wonder with this bloom. After we passed two time signals, we took a lunch break at the Weltachsblick. Here you can apparently - but only in good weather and with good eyesight - see the world …

It's a shame that the Mehlinger Heide was no longer bathed in purple, most of it had already faded. But there were still some purple heather bushes in this beautiful landscape. Schlofwandler had extended this tour a bit, so that we also walked through the shady forest in the warmth. A nice quiz was included and the winner received a …

I can't even put as many men as there were today in the tour title. 19 in total plus two dogs. @🇺🇦Schlofwandler🕊️ and @BH 3000 from PWV Insheim invited us. The heath has mostly faded, today the focus was on socializing. And there were delicious steamed dumplings and potato soup at the end. We were all glad of the numerous …

Unfortunately, much of the heather had already faded. What a pity!

Very nice tour in the best weather. The gravel roads in between got on my nerves. How can you cover an old, historic road (probably Roman) with gravel? Farm road, ruble blah blah …

After having heard and seen many times at Komoot about the Mehlinger Heide, we set out this afternoon. Thanks Jordbaere for the tip that we should go during the week, there was a lot going on today, but it got lost. At the weekend I don't even want to imagine what's going on. Great area, you feel like you are …
