A very pleasant route to ride. A very sensible use of the old railway line.

Knight's Chapel, Haßfurt

Highlight • Religious Site

The chapel in Haßfurt is a symbol of the city and one of the most important late Gothic buildings in Lower Franconia. The choir of the sacred building is surrounded by a triple coat of arms frieze with a total of 248 medieval heraldic shields. You should definitely take a look at that.

Haßfurt Market Square

Highlight • Settlement

Nice restaurants or bars are located in the immediate vicinity of the market square in the side streets.

Lately there is even an electric charging station (type 2 socket with 22kW) in the parking lot in front of the Sparkasse, which can be used around the clock - spontaneous charging (adhoc) without prior registration is possible here.
Then pay using the operator's RFID card "chargeIT mobility" or the app.

Haßfurt Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

The graceful old town, still recognizable in its original layout as an elongated rectangle, is traversed by the broad main street and bordered by the two large city towers.

Clockmaker's House, Königsberg

Highlight • Historical Site

One of the most artistic half-timbered buildings in Franconia is the Königsberg "Watchmaker's House", built in 1733 and inhabited for many years by an owner who practiced the watchmaking trade. In 1848 the watchmaker Hofmann was named in a dispute.

The baroque portal with a grooved, profiled arch shows a powerful grimacing head with a protruding forehead in its keystone, in the style of the wooden sculptures above.

The sculptural wooden decoration on the half-timbered upper floor is a masterpiece of wood sculpture. Not only are the grimaces worth noting, but also the dividing posts and the columns that delimit the window openings.

The building shows the typical handwriting of master Jörg Hoffmann from Zeil, who built three houses of this type, previously in Zeil and Scheßlitz. The Königsberg House was Jörg Hoffmann's last work. He died on October 24, 1734 in Zeil am Main.

The carillon was donated to commemorate the city's 800th anniversary in 1980. It can be heard daily at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. During the winter months until March 1, the figures do not emerge. From the Königsberg Christmas Market (the second Sunday in December) until January 6, Christmas and winter carols are played at 5:30 p.m.

Four figures emerge to appropriate melodies, which are described in more detail below.

Old Town of Königsberg in Bavaria

Highlight • Historical Site

Königsberg in Bavaria is a worthwhile destination for those who want to see beautifully preserved half-timbered houses. The Königsberg Roland is considered the southernmost Roland statue in Germany. Roland statues were considered symbols of civil liberties, usually associated with corresponding rights such as market rights or their own jurisdiction.
