Pier With Gazebo and Lake View

Highlight • Viewpoint

A stroll to Neuruppin's pier is a true highlight for anyone who loves peace, water, and panoramic views. The path leads along Lake Ruppin, past ancient trees and charming villas, offering frequent glimpses of the shimmering water. The pier itself is a beautiful spot to linger – perfect for a picnic or simply enjoying the view of the old town and its fortifications. The walk is especially lovely in the early morning or at sunset, when the light reflects on the lake, creating an almost magical atmosphere.

A short trip to Ostprignitz in the old year. In the new federal states there is a lot of construction going on, old houses being restored and sights being advertised. They are worth a visit and you can have a good time in the fresh air with a maritime feeling. In the evening I enjoy the Fontane Therme with lake view sauna. A good end to 2023🍀🍄😊

Former Town Hall Neuruppin

Highlight • Historical Site

The former Neuruppin Town Hall is an architectural monument with character – a building whose facade reflects the city's eventful history.

Erected around 1790 after the devastating city fire of 1787, the building at Wichmannstraße 18 stands as a symbol of reconstruction and Prussian urban planning of that era. Originally owned by Major von Zieten, it was acquired by the city council in 1871 and converted into the town hall. The Neo-Renaissance extension, featuring a richly ornamented facade and striking roof structures, was added in 1885/86 – an expression of the spirit of the times and the city's self-confidence.

The facade, with its slate roof, ornamentation, and the Neuruppin coat of arms above the entrance, makes the building a striking landmark on the street.

Its use as the town hall ended in 2000 when the administration moved to Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. Since then, the building has been privately occupied – by various service providers, among others.

The comprehensive renovation of the building's exterior in the 1990s was supported by urban development funds and was part of the development of the "Bilderbogenpassage" – a project to revitalize the city center.

Impressive, Gothic, red-brick church dating from 1246; a pair of new-gothic towers was added 1905-06. Unusually, the nave and aisles run from southwest to northeast, not west-east. The interior is plain brick, with a white, vaulted ceiling.
The enormous oak standing near the northeast corner is also worth a minute.
The “Wichmannlinde” stands nearby in a roundel overlooking the water.
