Church in Karszno

Highlight • Religious Site

The church in Karszno was probably built at the end of the 18th century (the date 1793 appears on the banner at the top of the tower). The brick, neo-Gothic tower was added at the end of the 19th century. After World War II, the unused church fell into ruin. It was rebuilt in 1998. Currently, regular services are not held in the church, and weddings are occasionally celebrated there. This is a place where painting exhibitions are often held.

St. Mary's Church, Protestant until 1945, is a late Gothic brick building with a choir and tower. It was probably built in 1442. The beam ceiling, which was once painted in color, was painted over. After the devastating fire in 1692, the church was rebuilt a year later and equipped with a baroque altar with a crucifixion group between winding columns.
After the Second World War, the church was taken over by the Catholic Church in Poland, which rededicated it on August 15, 1946 (the day of the Assumption of Mary). Since then the church has been called the Church of the Assumption.

Stolsko Lake

Highlight • Lake

Lake Stolsko is a small lake located on the Polish-German border, on the Wkrzańska Plain, among the forests of the Wkrzańska Forest. Stolsko is a special habitat protection area within the Natura 2000 network. It is a very interesting water reservoir, not only because of its natural values, but also because of its location right next to the palace and park complex in Stolsko. The shores of the lake are mostly covered with reeds, riparian forests and swamps. This is a reservoir where you can successfully fish. The fishing spot is rather shallow, 1-2 m deep and accessible by floating means. You can catch here mainly pike and tench, but also crucian carp, perch, eel, bream and roach. The lake can be reached by a road made of concrete slabs. On one of its shores there is a small recreational and beach area with a beach, and small boats are moored nearby. An interesting fact is that fragments of the so-called American bomber were found in the tank. "Flying Fortress", which was shot down by the Germans in the spring of 1944. The remains of this machine can be seen today in the Polish Arms Museum in Kołobrzeg.

The castle was built between 1721 and 1727 by the Ramin family, who owned the land in a classicist style. It is on Grenzensee. From 1945 the Polish border guards were stationed in the castle. The castle was thoroughly renovated in the 1970s and transferred to the Polish state in the early 2000s. He donated it to the University of Szczecin, which gave it back to the district. Since nothing was done for the maintenance of the palace and park, it fell into disrepair. From 2014 an attempt was made to sell the entire complex (castle and 13.33 ha park). In the meantime the castle has been privatized and is no longer accessible.
