The landscape protection area serves to protect parts of the landscape of the Central Mecklenburg Lake District and the forest areas of the central Mildenitz Valley. The preservation and restoration of the functionality and efficiency of the ecosystem and the usability of the natural assets, the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the landscape as well as the special importance of the area for recreation are essential. The 8,400 hectare area, the landscape protection area Dobbertiner Seenlandschaft and middle Mildenitztal, extends along the Mildenitz north of Goldberg over the Dobbertiner See, the Dobbiner and Klädener Plage to the Lenzener See in the area of the municipality of Mustin.

Monastery barn
The monastery office barn was built by the monastery building yard before 1816.
The original purpose was to store and dry timber for the monastery building yard. It was used as a so-called monastery magazine until 1938.
In the period from 1938 to 1945 the uses changed from a youth hostel to a teacher training institute, HJ regional leadership school to
Defense training camp.
After 1945 the building served as accommodation for nearly 200 refugees from the east.
1948 to 1950 agitator school
1952 to 1989 pioneer leader school, at times a further training facility for lower-level teachers
1990 to 1998 retirement home
since 2000 "Lindenhaus" - use as a dormitory by the
Diakoniewerk Kloster Dobbertin gGmbH
Seed house
According to the previously known documentary evidence for the seed house, it was built in 1825 by the monastery building yard.
However, individual finds during the renovation work suggest an older construction period. In the seed house, the laying out and drying of pine cones was used to produce seeds for the monastery's own forest. At the same time it served as a house for forest workers.
The building has been privately owned since 2002 and has been lovingly and professionally restored. From now on it will be used for residential purposes.
Forest Office Monastery
This building was built in 1804 by the monastery office as a house with two apartments. From 1820 it was used as a forest inspector's house for the forester's yard of the monastery.
Because of the increasing monastery forests with their many districts
and the decades of successful forest management, the monastery forest office was set up by the monastery captain VICTOR VON OERTZEN in 1830.
