Moselkrampen Adventure Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very nice hiking trail along the slope to the Moselle.
On the way very nice views of the Moselle and the village of Beilstein.
You should be surefooted and have a certain amount of head for heights.
As mentioned, it goes along a slope. It is worth it!

The old town center, with its narrow streets and half-timbered houses,
is absolutely worth seeing.
Above the town lies the ruins of Metternich Castle, with a beautiful view of the Moselle valley.

The town has a jetty where various excursion boats dock.

Beilstein

Highlight • Settlement

The city has one of the best preserved historic sites on the Moselle and is therefore also referred to as a miniature Rothenburg or "Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle".

Monastery staircase at the end of the 17th century, Beilstein/Mosel
Of the 108 most beautiful steps – The construction of the Beilstein monastery staircase at the end of the 17th century
When the Carmelite monks in Beilstein ceremoniously laid the foundation stone for the new building of their monastery on May 23, 1686, significant earthworks must have preceded this.

June 17, 2025,Mosel: Beilstein – Burg Metternich Runde von Fankel
Awesome tour: first a section of the Moselsteig trail, an adventurous route with beautiful views of the Moselle, then the monastery and village of Beilstein, with immediate escape from the crowds, finally a return journey that was almost nonexistent at times, but mastered brilliantly, and repeated views of the magnificent Moselle landscape. Strenuous, but truly beautiful.🤠

Today was an adventure hike. The Moselsteig Trail required some attention, but it's beautiful. Not a good idea in Birkenstocks, though...as we observed with a hiker. You know what? 🥺 The second time we met her, she was limping badly.😏
The pretty little villages were too busy for us, so we fled and skipped visiting Metternich Castle. The way back...pure …

What a beautiful tour 🤗 I thought it would go through colorful vineyards, but we also had steep forest sections and adventurous stretches on the Mosel Krampen.

Highly recommended to every visitor of Beilstein or Bruttig Fankel 👍🏻

A circular hike on the right side of the Moselle between Beilstein and Bruttig-Fankel. Started in the half-timbered town of Beilstein, initially a little uphill, following an old, partly secured Wingertspfad, further through vineyards to the two old winegrowing villages of Bruttig and Fackel. After a welcome refreshment, back in the upper slope area via paths and a narrow forest …

Beautiful route with great views, but the Bruttig section is difficult to walk in places

Today on the way home, we made a spontaneous detour to the Moselle River. We started in Bruttig-Fankel, right near Cochem. The route led us first through the village and then directly up into the vineyards.

The highlight was definitely the Moselle Bend. A truly fantastic path above the river with small stone steps and a real thrill, as it …

Beautiful tour of the Moselhöhenweg in my Moselle favorite place Beilstein and over the Mosel ramps (and Moselsteig) back to Bruttig-Fankel.
The restaurants are not yet open everywhere at this time of year.
