The Landgut Schloss Hemhofen estate is centrally located in the Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen-Bamberg metropolitan area, between the foothills of the Steigerwald and Franconian Switzerland. The heart of the estate is the castle complex with the surrounding buildings, as well as extensive fields, forests and ponds in the vicinity.

Hemhofen was handed over in 1650 by the steward of Pommersfelden as a wedding gift to his daughter for her marriage to Philipp Graf zu Pappenheim. After the count's death, she remarried Baron von Töstelberg, after which Hemhofen first came into his possession in 1660.
