Sun Cult Stone of Bilzingsleben

Highlight • Monument

A mystery, and very interesting, but perhaps more like moonstone than sunstone.
No matter, magical 😎🫶

St. Wigbert's Church, Bilzingsleben

Highlight • Religious Site

The stones will last forever, beautiful church.
And if we have any money left over, we can also make new windows.

The area around and in Bilzingsleben seems to have something going for it if people have been living here for 400,000 years.
Beautiful place.

Wipper Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Unfortunately, it's a bit high, so that smaller ones can't see anything of the beautiful seesaw.

Günserode Historic Village Center

Highlight • Settlement

At the exit of the Wipper breakthrough through the Hainleite, in an untouched natural landscape, lies the small, dreamy village of Günserode. It is so hidden that it was not discovered by any enemy during the First Napoleonic War.
In 1006 the hermit Günther donated the village to the Göllingen monastery, and in 1265 the place came to the monastery. Later a chapel mill with a nice restaurant was built, today you can only find a ruin.
The half-timbered houses (listed ensemble) are lined up like pearls on a string. There are small farmsteads that shape the image of the street village.
The charming landscape invites you to take relaxing walks. Immediately around the idyllic place there are very attractive circular hiking trails, from the height of which you have wonderful views of the Wippertal.
