Ratibor Castle currently offers three different puzzle tours for children:

- Johann Seeks Toto,

- Georg and Wilhelm,

and a family puzzle related to a special exhibition.

We did "Johann Seeks Toto," and it was really lovely and not at all boring. The children are given a detective kit with helpful tools and a map of the castle. The puzzles are varied and easy to solve. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There's also a reward at the end.

We'll definitely come back and do the other puzzle as well.

The puzzle tour is included in the admission price.

Children up to 10 years old are free, concessions are €1, and adults are €3.

Schlosshofspieler Fountain

Highlight • Monument

Next to the Protestant town church on the church square is the Roth Castle Court Player Fountain. This modern fountain presents four bronze figures from the Commedia dell'arte on its marble fountain column: Pantalone, Arlecchino, Colombina and Isabella. The Commedia dell'arte emerged in markets and squares in Italy from the 16th century. Fixed typical characters with costumes and masks appeared in improvised stories. This impromptu theater was folksy and comedic.

Protestant Town Church Roth

Highlight • Religious Site

The Evangelical City Church, situated on a hill, slightly off the medieval market square, with its towering tower, forms a striking landmark of the old town. It was built in the 14th century and later rebuilt several times (1511, 1732-1738, 1882-1885). In the course of the Reformation, the church became Protestant in 1529. (Wikipedia)

Roth Market Square

Highlight • Settlement

Somehow not really nice. Some interesting buildings, a beautiful fountain and some outdoor dining, but then again there is a parking lot and a rather monotonous square design.

Markgrafenbrunnen Roth

Highlight • Monument

The Margrave's Fountain in Roth's market square is the city's oldest public fountain. A black eagle sits atop the fountain column, which is adorned with ornaments and colorful, water-spouting heads.

A fountain already stood on the same spot in 1556, which was replaced in 1600 by a wooden Renaissance structure. The stone fountain in its current form was built in 1757. The city of Roth commissioned it as a gift for the sovereign, Carl Wilhelm Friedrich. The Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1712–1757) was a strong patron of industry and commerce, as well as art and science. During his reign, the first fire insurance was established in 1754. The fountain column bears his initials, "CWF."

In 2014, the fountain required renovation due to a crack in the basin. A stainless steel basin was installed, and the fountain was repainted that year in its original black, red, and gold colors. In October 2022, the city council will discuss removing the fountain from the market square and relocating it. This is because the Roth market square is slated for redesign.

World War I Memorial (Roth)

Highlight • Monument

In front of the Evangelical Lutheran City Church there is a large memorial erected in 1926 for those who died in the First World War.
The sculpture in the middle, created by Heinz Hench, shows a grieving soldier on horseback, with the city's coat of arms and the imperial eagle on the sides.
The fallen and missing are listed on the two memorial plaques at the foot of the statue.
