Pruszcz Gdański Hydropower Plant

Highlight • Monument

The water power plant was established in 1921 on the initiative of the Senate of the Free City of Gdańsk.
As the only one of the series of water power plants of the Radunia River, it was built not on Radunia itself, but on the initial section of the Radunia Canal, a hydrotechnical facility built in the 14th century by the Teutonic Knights.

The first brick church was built before 1367 as a Catholic temple. During a village fire in 1460, the roofs and interior of the church were destroyed. After 1466, it was rebuilt. During the Reformation, around 1585, it was taken over by Protestants. Renovated in 1742 and 1831 - then the clock was placed in the tower, thoroughly renovated in 1936. It was used by Protestants until 1944. In 1945, the church returned to Catholic hands.
The current church is a Gothic brick basilica, composed of a presbytery, a three-nave body and a four-sided tower from the west. It has been built for almost a century and a half, as indicated by the differences in form. The oldest part, dating back to the end of the 14th century, is the presbytery, covered with a groin vault supported by richly carved consoles cast in artificial stone.

Mill in Pruszcz Gdański

Highlight • Historical Site

Mill at ul. Polish Army in Pruszcz, its history dates back to the second half of the 16th century, when a certain Michel Damnitz built the first facility of this type in this place.
This mill supported grain processing and relieved the workload of the mills located in Gdańsk.
In 1859, during the "Swedish Deluge", a unit of soldiers from the northern invader stationed in Koźliny, invaded Pruszcz, plundered and destroyed it, and took the entire supply of flour in the mill.
After the first partition of Poland, when Pruszcz came under Prussian rule, the mill and local farmers had big problems due to the ban on trading with Gdańsk, then still under the rule of the Polish crown. The miller who ran the facility was arrested for violating trade rules, and only his bailout along with the local village heads saved them from prison misery. In 1804, the mill was leased by Christian Rogotzki.
Over the several centuries of the mill's existence, it was rebuilt many times, and the current facility was rebuilt in 1920 and is still in use today.
