Orlica Mountain Hut

Beautiful shelter near the Dunajec, with accommodation and meals, with great views of the Three Crowns. A good place to stop during trips along the Dunajec. Everywhere beautiful, green, and generally better than at the computer.

As you can see in the photo from July 1997, there was a border fence in this place, which made it impossible to cross the Polish-Slovak border. Tourists who came from Szczawnica along the Dunajec River were forced to turn back. This was the case until 1999. On the Slovak side, it was so much better that there are two roads leading here - from Leśnica and Czerwony Klasztor, so it was possible to return by a different route.
----------------------------

The Szczawnica-Lesnica border crossing was established on July 1, 1999, in the area of the border marker No. II/94, with the place of check-in on the Slovak side in the town of Lesnica for citizens of Poland and Slovakia and citizens of countries with which both countries had abolished the obligation to have visas. It was open at 9.00-21.00 in the summer (April-September) and 9.00-17.00 in the winter (October-March). The traffic of pedestrians, cyclists, skiers and people using wheelchairs was allowed. Border and customs clearance was carried out by the bodies of the Border Guard.

On December 21, 2007, under the Schengen Agreement, the border crossing was closed.

Grajcarek Riverside Promenade

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The promenade in Szczawnica is currently the longest promenade in Poland, 1,800 meters long. The promenade starts at the lower station of the cable car to Palenica and connects with the pedestrian and bicycle path leading to Slovakia along the Dunajec River.
It has many elements of small architecture, benches, openwork gazebos, flower beds with interesting vegetation.
There are also eateries.

Palenica Chairlift

Highlight • Structure

On the left side of the fence of the lower lift station (looking towards the top of Palenica) there is a gate for cyclists, and behind it a fenced sector where bicycles and strollers are parked.

For a tourist visiting Szczawnica for the first time, it may come as a surprise that here - in a mountainous area, practically devoid of flat places, there is a large lake. Coming closer, the surprise grows at the sight of the fish that live here, among the water lilies. Many people sit on benches placed along the shore, or watch the fish from a concrete pier equipped with a railing. In case of rain, you can walk around the lake and take shelter in the gazebo on the high bank on the side of the park chapel.
