The Long Bridge was the first bridge in Szczecin. In place of the previous ferry crossing, a wooden bridge with passage for ships was built in 1283

Chrobry Embankment Fountain

Highlight • Monument

The famous observation deck in Szczecin was once named after Hermann Haken, who was the mayor of the city at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, we know this wonderful urban and architectural complex as Waly Chrobry.
Its central point is a wonderful fountain with a fanciful shape resembling a sea shell.
It is part of the terrace structure. Its most decorative part is located in the wall of the terrace. In the central part, it has a large, semi-circular recess, above which there is an impressive coat of arms cartouche. On the sides of the recess there are two sculptures of John of Kolno - one on each side. Below them there are bowls into which water flows from the mouths of faces carved there. The fountain itself is quite shallow, water gushes from several places upwards and falls into a spacious tank. In the evenings it is illuminated, which makes it even more impressive.

The church dates from the first half of the 15th century. Before that there was a wooden church. On the outer walls there are terracotta heads of well-known Szczecin citizens

Royal Gate

Highlight • Monument

The baroque royal gate was built in 1725-27 as part of the fortress. During the dismantling of the fortress in 1873, due to its historical and artistic value, it was not demolished, as was the Berliner Tor.

Szczecin Philharmonic Hall

Highlight • Monument

The new headquarters of the Philharmonic in Szczecin is one of the most modern buildings in Poland, which has already become a contemporary icon of architecture. It is distinguished by its extremely original, soaring shape, designed by Spanish architects from the Barozzi Veiga studio from Barcelona.
The building, which was erected on the site of the pre-war Concert House - Konzerthaus, combines history and modernity, inspired by the former location and historical buildings. The Philharmonic draws on the European tradition of concert halls and houses.
The building is distinguished by its boldness and lightness, but at the same time it creates a coherent line with the neo-Gothic buildings of the surroundings. The building's innovation is not limited only to the visual aspect - the Philharmonic is also an interdisciplinary art center and a multifunctional cultural institution.
The interior of the philharmonic hall covers over 12,000 square meters of space, spread over four floors, and includes, among others: a symphony hall, a chamber hall, rehearsal rooms, a music shop, a café and a spacious foyer.
The Symphony Hall, also called the Solar Hall, can accommodate an audience of 953 people. The excellent acoustics of the Solar Room come from the special geometry of the walls and ceilings. All parameters of the symphony hall (power, sound uniformity, delay time and side reflection coefficient) produce an effect comparable to a model of this type of implementation - the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna.
In the chamber hall - designed for 192 people - the reverberation time is as designed to one hundredth of a second. That is why this hall has been called an "acoustic gem".

. It is a meeting place for the inhabitants of Szczecin, and a must-see on the map of every tourist trip. And besides, concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events are held here. Of course, for the inhabitants of Szczecin, it is also a place of remembrance, where on the anniversaries of that December they remember those who took to the streets then.

Under the slab of Plac Solidarności, there is an institution called the Dialogue Center "Przełomy". And in it there is an exhibition of the National Museum in Szczecin, which concerns breakthrough moments in the history of Pomerania. Starting from the times when Szczecin was incorporated into the Polish state after World War II, because it was not always there, to the times of the Solidarity rebellion. Not only the one from the 1970s, but also 1981 or 1989. Because there were several such spurts.
